James' research interests include emulating and history matching (calibrating) expensive computer models with high-dimensional input and output spaces, discrepancies between models and observations, environmental modelling, communicating uncertainty, statistical modelling, machine learning. His recent work has covered a wide range of applications, including volcanic ash disperion, land surface modelling, air quality, Covid-19, and agent based modelling.
