He is an environmental scientist leading an applied research agenda to improve understanding of how landscapes function and can be managed for sustainable social and ecological benefit. His work integrates geospatial tools, ecology, earth surface processes, and systems thinking to develop and share insights into sustainable ecosystem function across scales, from individual plants to the globe
